Delighted that our new dwelling project Brampton has won an RIBA award in NW region. The judges citation reads “Mary Arnold-Forster Architects successfully fulfils the brief for a family house that balances simple practicality with an appreciation of its wild and beautiful setting”. Congratulations to our clients Fiona and Simon, to the structural engineer Kane and project architect Doug McCorkell. We are though in awe of the contractor Iain Saint. Thoroughly professional and diligent with an appreciation and eye for detail. He pulled an incredible team together but lead from the front and was often found simply building alone. Building to this quality is an unappreciated and underrated skill and we are in dire shortage of people like Iain. We would like to see serious encouragement in schools and technical colleges funded properly so that more young people choose to do what Iain does so well.
