While at Dualchas Architects
This house was built for a family of 5 and their many friends. It was designed as a response to an old perfectly plain black shed nearby and to compliment the clients’ sister’s house next door which is a traditional looking white house.
The house is a group of buildings set around a courtyard with the main living spaces to the front and the bedrooms to the rear stacked on top of each other. The wood store/heat pump enclosure and the large storage shed form the other sides of the courtyard. For a relatively large house it appears quite discreet against the black rock face behind.
