We are very excited to see our project on Skye start this month. The project includes a new house and guest annex which will be connected by a new footbridge installed over the gorge that cuts through the site. The buildings are single storey and tucked into the landscape above the Sound of Raasay. The existing landscape forms the garden to our proposal and is covered in plants such as heather, grasses and bog myrtle. There will be a small walled sitting area to the south of the house to catch the sun and benefit from the shelter that the hillside provides.
The buildings are single storey rectangular forms connected by a central spine and will be constructed from clay blocks with an external layer of wood fibre insulation and a breathable render finish.
